Josie is having fun at her new foster home. She's finishing her heartworm treatment and will soon be available for adoption---she's such a gorgeous gal! Josie fooling around with play buddies Cole and Ceres

Mom Josie with her daughter

Josie thinks Melody looks quite a bit like her...

Josie

Having been a wonderful mom to her off-spring, Josie is getting started on her own road to recovery now. She will undergo heartworm treatment and can't wait to start her next quest: finding the perfect family to call her own!!

BEAUTIFUL JOSIE

Pink is her color!

Josie has moved into the pool outside of the nursery and goes in and feeds the girls on her terms now.

TOO CUTE!

Everybody has decided that soft kibble is great stuff and they are all eating like pigs and growing like weeds. Melody and Valerie escaped from the nursery this morning so that they could lay near the pool since they knew mom was in there.

Trying to change their blankets was fun last night - I forgot to put every body in the crate first and my ankles are all bit up from being attacked by the munchkins. LOL

I pick up their bed and change it out and mop the floor every morning before they get fresh blankets. The pussycats think this is some type of game that I invented just for their entertainment.

SWIMMING ANYONE?

Much to my surprise, Valentine was the first one over the edge and out of the kiddie pool on their last night to sleep in the pool. Valerie and Melody were quick to follow. Brown whined and whined until I finally felt sorry for her and helped her out. Then, I couldn't keep her in there. They are growing up too fast!

A GREAT LOOKING FAMILY

Look at how much better Josie looks than in that first photo we saw of her hiding in her dog house. She is a very friendly girl and loves to greet you and be petted.

THE ESCAPE!

Not to be outdone by the older dogs, there was very loud puppy yelping coming from the nursery last night. I went to investigate and Melody had gotten out of the pool and was sitting in the corner, facing the wall with this "Oh my what have I done" look. I gathered her up and snuggled her before putting her back in with her sisters.

WE ARE GROWING...

The little Pussycats are ready to start eating soft food and Josie says the sooner the better. I will be installing their escape proof (haha) doorway to the puppy area and start feeding them soft food in addition to Josie's feedings this weekend. They are little chunks and really starting to play now.

EVERY NEW PARENT COUNTS TOES...

We can't believe how much our foster mom worries about us. She found "extra" toes on 2 of us and was really concerned. Thank goodness she found out that they are ONLY dew claws! All that worrying for dew claws? Maybe we need to count her toes tonight? Maybe she thought we were aliens? We do live near a corn field after all!

ONE HAPPY FAMILY, ONE TIRED MAMA!

The pussycats are cutting teeth and poor little Josie is sooo very tired. This morning she curled up on the blanket for her massage and was sound asleep in just a few minutes. I believe that Valerie will be the first one out of the pool this week and I'm designing a new containment system for the little darlings.

Josie and Julie are now meeting me after work at the door!! What a greetiing!

INSIDE, OUTSIDE, UPSIDE-DOWN

The puppies are playing, playing, playing!!! It is so funny to watch them bite each others ears and growl and roll around!! For some reason Valerie is always laughing with her mouth open

NO ONE CAN RESIST A CUTE PUPPY

VALENTINE

BROWN

VALERIE

MELODY

ONE TIRED MAMA!

BROWN THE BEAUTIFUL!

Hey wait a minute! Don't forget about me!

THE THREE PRETTY BLACK AND WHITE GIRLS!

The pretty girl all by herself is Valentine. The one on the left with the most white is Melody and the one with just a little white on the top of her head is Valerie.

A LOVING FAMILY!

Brown is no longer sniffling, maybe her nose was just opening up so that she could start sticking it in stuff (and she has a paranoid foster mom). I'm sure that the immune boosters that Josie is taking are a help.

The girls moved into the bigger accomodations yesterday and they are all doing very good. They have a large blue pool with flowered blankets now.
Josie is a loving and attentive mother. I whispered "I love you Josie" in her ear Saturday morning and she told me that noone had ever told her that before and gave me a kiss.
Melody and Valerie have an extra thumb on their back feet. Both feet and both dogs. They look like a dew claw, but it sticks out a lot. I will zoom in on them and post photos tomorrow. It may affect their dancing ability, but I doubt it.

MORE PUPPY NEWS

Josie is starting to spend a little time out away from the puppies now and is a very sweet friendly girl. She is taking her immune boosters with no fuss and putting on some weight. Little Melody's eyes are starting to open!! I use the term "little" loosly, she is really a big girl. Valerie sleeps upside down and when I rub her belly she makes the cutest noises. Valentine and Brown are the smallest of the girls, but they are by no means little. There little ears are folded over so I think Daddy may be a lab as Lisa suggested. I am hearing some snuffling from Brown, but I am hoping that she is just a noisy girl when she is searching for her meal.

PUPPY UPDATE!

Josie and the girls are doing good. I will get more puppy pictures
this weekend, they have doubled in size. I plan to pick up two kiddy
pools this next week and move Josie and the Pussycats into one of them
once their eyes are open and they are more active (I can't wait).
This way when I clean and change bedding I can just transfer them from
one pool to the other.

GOOD MOMMY

Josie is just being a good mommy. When I took Julie to the truck,
Josie came out and looked all over for her, whining and then went all
the way upstairs to the back door trying to find her. She went back
downstairs and layed in Julie's crate while I gave them fresh water,
but was back in with the pussycats after just a few minutes. They are
really attached to each other.

JOSIE LOVES HER KIDS!

Josie still loves and cares for Juliet.

PUPPY PILE!

THE PUSSYCATS!

VALERIE

VALENTINE

BROWN

MELODY

A ROCK STAR AND A GREAT MOM!

Josie is the greatest mommy. I was changing the bedding and taking photos of the girls last night. It took 45 minutes because every time I took a puppy out and reached for another, she would pick her up and put her back in. I sat with her last night and just listened to the puppies cooing with their little full bellies. Josie got a cookie last night and tried to jump over the gate to the whelping area. She landed on her front feet and her back end came up over her head causing her to do a somersault. It was not very graceful.

I AM PLEASED TO INTRODUCE... JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS

Josie and the pussycats Melody, Valentine, Valerie and Brown are doing wonderful. Melody and Valentine were born between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM 4/6 somewhere between Kentucky and Illinois, Valerie was born at 1:30 PM between Urbana and Williamsville and little Brown was born overnight at the palace. Sadly, their brother McCoy was also born about noon in Urbana, but was still born. A private service was held at the Palace.

Josie is a very good mother and she and the puppies are doing very well. Josie is a very friendly girl and will let me handle the pups for bedding changes and she will take food from my hand. The girls are just precious Melody, Valentine and Valerie are white with black spots and very pointer looking. Valentine is the smallest as has a black dot on the end of her nose. Brown is all black with a little white speck on her face. When we change bedding tonight I will take photos of each baby individually.
